Standard Chartered KL Marathon | Seeing Is Believing

Wakin' up at 5am on a Sunday morning (okay, I snoozed 5 times and make that 6am) isn't really my forte. But what kept me pumped was definitely something worth the sacrifice!

The annual Standard Chartered KL Marathon took place in the heart of Kuala Lumpur last Sunday, 24th June and about 28,000 participants ranging from amateurs to elite runners, and 1,400 runners from 40 different countries took part in the race [details taken from Staronline.com]. Can you imagine how huge this whole event was? And, I was definitely honored to be invited to run with the SEEING IS BELIEVING kids, again after the Fun Run held last month at Putrajaya.

Due to the major road closures (literally the entire KL City) and I figured it was going to be a problem even getting into KL. And hence, Cheryl and I somehow came up with an alternative which I thought was brilliant. Parked our car at the Kelana Jaya LRT Station and took the train all the way to Masjid Jamek and then travelled on foot to Padang Merbok.

But no, we weren't the only geniuses. The park car was full even before the sun rose. And the station was filled with SMURFS! (The blue shirts, and hence .. :P ) But its so great to see people actually waking up and making effort for the run, better still its for Charity! Kudos people x

But I must admit, it was a whole new different experience to be taking the train (instead of the conventional way, driving in to KL) and walking in the midst of the concrete jungle. You don't get that very often, do you? Especially not KUALA LUMPUR. But kudos to the team for such efficiency. All the early warnings and heads-up(s) sure came into good use. We were provided a list of road closures even days before the marathon. If not for that, I would've been late for the run *thumbs up!

With Mr. Arif Siddiqui, CIO of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad.
Dayang was a great running buddy. Couldn't ask for more!

Praise the Lord, I completed the 5km run and came in 5th! Well, can't be compared to those who actually took part in the full-marathon/half-marathon. Cheryl made a good joke though, "Well, I think our run is probably the marathon divided by 5, or maybe more!". Haha I can't complain, it was certainly a great experience and I already cannot wait for the run next year.

Edgy Wed

[Short snappy post]

Felt abit edgy today. Didn't wanna wear any of the plain white tees & that's when my Christian Audigier came in handy ;) Put on my biker's jacket and a black Armani jeans. If only I had my Harley Davidson to complete my look!

Thank you momsy Ooi for the tee! Mad love!

Totally dig this pair of Ed Hardy Forever Dydo Boots.

One of those days when you feel like smiling isn't the way to go. Sometimes, faking a smile & move on is probably the only choice you have. I have so much gushing through my mind and yet, feeling totally incapable of doing them all at once. Anyway!

p/s: I hope the interview/audition went well. Keeping my fingers crossed. Can't wait to share the good news.

[ADVERTORIAL]

"Now you see, now you dont". I still remember the amount of pain and struggle I was going through last week. Boy, it sure wasn't easy! Somehow God made me pull it through and managed to plan everything as I wanted it to be (Thank you Lord!). Completed my final paper today, then emails and invitations came spamming in.

Speaking of invitations, HENNESSY ARTISTRY IS BACK! #saywhut!

Considering this is my first time gettin' sponsored to Penang, to party- well, I AM ELATED, STOKED, EXCITED, ELECTRIFIED!! Would like to take this opportunity to thank Hennessy Malaysia for having me on board as one of the guest bloggers this time around. Its such an honor.

We will be departing from KLIA this Saturday morning 160612 and heck, I am really looking forward to my awesome weekend after months of captivity!

Put on your party hats and get the disco balls rollin'!

More than 2,000 partygoers are expected to converge at SQCC to party at the island's newest and most happening waterfront making H-Penang the biggest super-clubbing event to take place on the island.

Yolanda Be Cool doin' what they do best during last year's H-Artistry.

Chris Willis delivering a phenomenal performance on stage! Took our breathe away.

This year's H-Artistry will feature an all-new Art of Mixing Zone with alot more exciting and interactive games.

Myself and your favourite 2nd-runner up Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 , Juanita Ramayah.

The premier, super-clubbing phenomenon H-Artistry is back this year with three explosive parties ; the first of which is set to rock Penang on the 16th June 2012 at the Straits Quay Convention Centre (SQCC).

Featuring an all-new Art of Mixing Zone, signature Hennessy V.S.O.P. long drinks and the trademark H-Artistry party atmosphere , revelers and music lovers in Penang are in for a truly explosive experience this 16th June.
The first H-Artistry of 2012 will see chart-topping Taiwanese mandopop sensation Lollipop F and UK's Grammy Award nominated DJ Andy Moor headline the event, alongside the best of Malaysia's local talent such as Suki Low, Ernest C and Ramsey Westwood.

Lollipop F
Taking on a sexier image after the release of their second album “Dance” in October last year, Taiwan’s heartthrob boy band Lollipop F is set to take over Asia and beyond with their energetic sound and crisp dance moves. Known as one of the best singing/dance groups hailing from Taiwan, Lollipop F have been taking the Asian mandopop scene by storm with chart toppers such as “Dance” and “Trophy”.

Ernest C
Ernest C, dubbed by partygoers as “The Miracle Boy”, is one of the youngest Malaysian DJs to spin in renowned clubs around Malaysia and other destinations around the world, not long after his DJ-ing debut at the tender age of 17. Ernest C is versatile with his selection of musical genres, which range from Disco House to Electro.

Ramsey Westwood
Ramsey Westwood a.k.a Spinmaster Champion 2011 is naturally gifted behind the decks, showcasing some of the most original mixes Malaysia has ever heard. His fluid style won him the “Spinmaster” title in the coveted Astro Hitz Spinmaster Season 2 competition, which propelled him all the way to London to be the first Malaysian DJ to perform at the Ministry of Sound.

Andy Moor
Grammy-award nominated Andy Moor from the UK is a groundbreaking DJ and producer in the electronic dance music scene. In his illustrious career, Moor has established a distinct, edgy and creative sound that is all his own with hits such as “Halcyon”, “Air For Life’, “Fight the fire”, and “Fake Awake”. His sound, combined with his technical mastery has led him to remain highly ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs for the past 6 years.

Suki Low
Suki Low shot to fame after winning the reality TV show ‘One in a Million’ at the age of 16 back in 2006. Ever since, she has been making waves in the local music scene by bagging AIM 2008’s ‘Most Promising Artiste’ award and subsequently releasing her first mandopop album, ‘Ladies Night’.

In 2011 Suki delivered yet another sensational performance at the most anticipated H-Artistry party of 2011 at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Conventoin Centre, expertly taking on Fergie’s vocal portion of the hit song ‘Gettin Over You’ while sharing the stage with headliner Chris Willis. Since then, Suki Low and Chris Willis have collaborated on the production of Suki’s latest single ‘Finish Line’ which has just been released this April.
