Tuesday Throwback x May '13

I don't exactly know how to begin writing this post. So many things happened within the course of the past 2 months - and I kid you not, so MANY things happened. It was a helluva roller coaster ride ; one that I would wanna be on again ;) Met people from all walks of life, and I cannot be more grateful for all the opportunities that chanced upon me (thank you the Great man up above!) Well, there are some nasty and selfish ones but hey, who am I to judge? Anyway, I'd rather sum them up in pictures because, if I were to talk about each and every one of them ; I reckon it would take a day writing and another to edit. So yup, keeping it short and sweet.

This was one of those very very rare jobs that you get. And by that, I meant.. hmm, how should I explain. It's like getting a jackpot without even buying the ticket haha. You get the drift? Got a call from the director and BINGO - I got the job, without even casting for it. Very very lucky I would say (saves alot of hassle you know!) And was flown over to Penang two days after the call. Everything happened so quickly - and this was .. 2 months ago? I'd like to think it was my lucky month because.. jobs didn't come as easy after that! (haha). It was a pleasure to finally work with Peter (one of the best directors in town!) and Dennis Lau ( also known as The Violinist). Great people! x

And then, there was the annual Passion For Fashion. I've got a secret to spill. Attended this party 3 years ago and it was how it all started. Who knew.... that I would actually have the opportunity to be a part of the PFF 2013 - definitely a great experience! Twas also my very very first runway job since my Miss Universe Malaysia days. Oh man, how time flies! Was an honor to be donned in Luve Luxe by Hui Jean & Lexy Lyla by Dawn Yang - loved their collection! xx

2013, also the year I got my very first acting role *jumps in excitement (besides TV commercials lah - its so different, I swear!) Just a very minor role, as the supporting actress in Episode 7 of WHAT IF (coming soon on 8tv); but it was definitely a great experience! Would like to thank Jehan Miskin for having me - learnt so much from him, definitely one of the most dedicated and creative director I've worked with. Suchitra was also a part of the production - you'll see her quite often in the show ;) The shoot is still ongoing for the rest of the episodes, but I'll keep you guys posted when it's out! Quite excited to watch my part - don't wanna be a spoiler but daym, I've not seen anything less bloody in my life! ;P Stay tuned xx

Spent most of my weekends with friends & loved one since I'm always away from the family. Cannot imagine life without the joy that these people bring - love em to bits. Exams is just around the corner, so I'll have to cut down on outings and date nights :( You'll probably see more of me in the library for the next couple of weeks. Will be travelling to Krabi and Bali too - beyond stoked! x

I really don't know what's with me and stairs. If you're wondering - yes! I fell again, and yes! the same foot and yes! the stairs again :( This time .. I wouldn't say it's as bad but the impact during the fall was pretty damn bad - went through excruciating pain. Missed a step and somehow sprained my ankle in my 4.5inches heels ; heels survived tho :P I've been having my ankle braces on and hey, I'd like to think its a blessing in disguise. Took advantage of being a temporary handicap .. getting parking spaces has never been easier! :P I should probably keep the braces in my ride for emergency cases, who knows? hah xx

I have said this many times and I will say it again. I am not a fashionista ( unlike some self-proclaimed ones, no offense - but some really do make me "garu kepalaku"; because self-praise is no praise #justsaying) Anyway! I've been trying to put in a little more effort than usual to dress up a little more and I must admit, it sure feels good to pat on a little make-up once in a while and to walk in heels (though I can no longer walk in em for a good one month now. pfft) . And I am usually the .. shorts and flip-flop girl you see, so it's quite a big deal when I actually do 'not' put on my glasses to uni or anywhere besides attending events/castings. Okaylah, YOLO right? I'll try to dress up a little more from now on :P xx

May is coming to an end, and June is fast approaching. Wow, it's scary how time flies. It felt like just yesterday when everyone was talking about the apocalypse / the end of the world and now - first half of 2013 is already gone! And what have I done thus far.. how many resolutions have I achieved? It's time for a reality check!

Anyway, am currently hooked onto these two songs. And to that person who sent me the link of the latter song - "in these promises broken // deep below // each word gets lost in the echo// so one last lie I can see through// THIS TIME I FINALLY LET YOU GO" ..  I have to let you go..

So much love xx

Hair Makeover | Shawn Cutler Bangsar

[ADVERTORIAL]
I've always longed for a hair makeover because I haven't been had a proper haircut in yonks! Had some really dreadful hair trimming experience and I told myself that I'll never step into a salon until my mane is ready for another make-over and well, of course - Shawn Cutler's offer came just in time! Talk about perfect timing.

I've had my hair short, so short that I could wax em and have em spiked up (yup, don't gimme that look - we've all had our bad-hair-choice-moments), had me bobbed, mid-length and finally decided that I only look good in long hair, or at least it gives me my feminine vibe. So, I told my hairstylist, Mavis that I needed my hair length, also because I'm doing commercials and I need to be in the 'safe zone', if you get what I mean. Well, I almost attempted doing the ombre but didn't want to take the risk because I have a couple of castings lined up for next month - better safe than sorry hey?

We went through a session of negotiation and discussion, finally came to a final verdict of just trimming and having it dyed one-tone ( no highlights, no ombre). Of course, Mavis inspected/analyzed my hair prior to making decisions and she thought it was a good idea to just trim the dry ends with a considerable amount of length ( b'cus I was really particular about keeping my hair length) and she recommended that I should it dyed with "Lavender Brown" colour under the RICH BROWN category ( refer to hair chart below). I was hesitant at first because I wanted to try something else.. like Mahogany or something with a red or green base. But, decided not to because Mavis adviced that I was slightly tanned and Brown would suit me most ( and she was right!) Always listen to the professionals ;) x

I went with LAVENDER BROWN x ( I can't remember the code but I think its B7.03)
Mavis showing me the hair chart under the sunlight for a better idea of how it would turn out like.

My hair prior to the makeover was just long.. shapeless.. heavy on the bottom ( which makes my hair flat and unflattering).. had dry ends.. frizzy.. overall, unappealing! Plus, I would almost, never step into a salon if I don't need to ( yea, I'm just so lazy like that) and sometimes, I would even skip the hair conditioning when showering ( yup, THAT lazy!). Hence, explains why my hair always seem so dry on the ends. Nonetheless, lesson learnt and Mavis also reminded me that the source of EVERY problem ( in general) is the root - in this case, the scalp of our hair! I guess most of us always neglect the fact that we, too need to nourish the scalps of our head for better hair growth. So yup, that's a reminder for all of us x

Had to wait for 20 mins for the dye to be absorbed before washing it off.
I opted for hair treatment almost immediately, to prevent further dryness! ;) x

I must say, the staffs at Shawn Cutler were really friendly and assisting, which is the most important value for hairstylists; because not only you need to know if the hairstyle that you opt for is suitable for your customer, you also need to explain and make your customer understand WHY that is so. Especially customers like me, who's extremely fussy about my precious mane - I kept asking questions and I must really thank Mavis for being so helpful and patient with me ;) *thanks Mavis! x

I find the interior of the salon really welcoming, and Hollywood-like! It somehow gives me the feeling of being at the backstage of a Chanel Fashion Show or on the set for Burlesque (cheesy, ahah. but you get the drift!) But yea, I absolutely love the long mirrors and if you realize, there's actually a red carpet trailing from the entrance into the salon, talk about Hollywood Glam ;) And I must say, you can NEVER go wrong with Black & White ;) x

And wuaaa-lahhhh! It was definitely worth the 3.5hours wait. The 'Lavender Brown' turned out perfectly fine and I absolutely love the brown hue on my hair. Although I had it trimmed, the length was well kept and the unnecessary dry ends are gone! My hair definitely feels healthier, after the treatment and the new color sure gives it a kick!

Once again, thank you Mavis, from Shawn Cutler for the amazing hair makeover. I've never loved my mane this much x As vain as it sounds, I could look at myself all day, everyday now ;P haha. Keep up the great work and I definitely look forward to my next visit soon xx

Here's some photos taken AFTER the makeover. I cannot stress this enough but I really really love the new color. Honestly, it was my first time dying my 'whole' head brown and looks like I'll be sticking to this for sometime, thinking of getting some dark brown highlights as well.

Despite all the busy schedule, I'm lucky to have such amazing sponsor that has been with me for the past couple of months. Really want to thank In House Fashion (IHF) for being such patient and understanding peeps xx Let's get back to the gist of the post, shall we?
